A dermatofibroma is a very common, non-cancerous (benign) skin growth that feels like a firm, rubbery button or small stone embedded under the skin.
Causes
The exact cause is unknown, but medical researchers believe a dermatofibroma is often a reactive scarring process rather than a true tumor. They frequently develop after a minor skin injury.
Treatment:
Removal can be considered if the lesion is highly symptomatic (painful or intensely itchy) or a cosmetic concern
